Pin retainer system for railway buffer vehicles that prevents the hook tail pin from slipping out of the pin groove in the coupler tail frame and keeps the hook tail pin on the inside of the beam (sill). The pin retainer system according to the present invention comprises a pin retainer that is installed on an incision located on the outside of the rail vehicle beam. The pin retainer system also includes improvements to the standard E-type cushioned coupler tail frame that allows the hook tail pin to fully extend through the pin groove in the coupler tail frame. Mounting the pin retainer to the outside of the beam guarantees improved visibility of the pin retainer from the outside of the rolling stock and allows the pin retainer to be repaired and/or inspected without removing the coupler from the coupler tail frame or from the rolling stock. The external mounting also allows the tail pin to be fully inserted through the E-coupler tail frame, thus ensuring that the pin cannot be rotated out of position.

Train Retainer Investment Castings prevent pins from moving or falling out of the coupler tail frame. The prior art system is characterized by a stop member mounted on the inside of the coupler tail frame. In a typical prior art arrangement, the coupler tail frame is kept in the pin groove with the help of the corresponding notches formed in the coupler tail frame and formed in the hook tail pin. These and other purposes of the present invention are realized by a pin retainer and a pin retainer system according to the present invention. The pin retainer comprises: a retainer guide that has an open end, a closed end, and two opposing sides extending from the closed end that define the groove. Two opposing flanges extend from either side of the groove, and each flange has a through hole that is positioned so that the through hole can be aligned vertically. The pin stop is inserted into the open end of the retainer guide and can slide within the retainer guide to the position of the closed end of the retainer guide. Through this structure, the retainer guide is suitable to be installed on the outside of the railway vehicle beam, and the railway vehicle beam has a notch at one end, so that at least a part of the pin groove of the coupler tail frame is exposed, so that at least a part of the retainer guide is aligned with at least a part of the notch on the beam.

The pin retainer system according to the present invention comprises: a pin retainer described above, a beam attached to the lower part of a railway vehicle (which may be the same as a beam existing in the prior art), which is provided with a cut in one of the transverse sides to allow access to the hook tail pin, and a coupler tail frame that has a uniform pin groove and the uniform pin groove size is determined to allow the towing pin to be directly inserted through the coupler tail frame so that the towing pin extends from one inner wall of the beam to another inner wall. The system is particularly suitable for installation in a coupler tail frame that is installed in a beam with a sliding clearance and has a groove for receiving the buffer unit, which includes a surface for supporting the buffer unit. This arrangement is referred to as the "Floating E-type" coupler tail frame to distinguish certain older coupler tail frame constructions where the coupler tail frame is integrated with the buffer unit as a single unit. Because the hook tail pin does not touch the side of the pin groove on the coupler tail frame (as in the prior art), the hook tail pin can fully extend through the two opposing pin grooves in the coupler tail frame, so that even in the "buffer" position, the pin cannot rotate out of position and causes the coupler tail frame to be disconnected from the coupler, and an uncommon but catastrophic event is known to have occurred in the prior art. In addition, when a transverse load is applied to the coupler tail frame, which may occur under normal operation, the member that will remain in place according to the pin holder of the present invention is not subjected to the load.
